Who We Are
The Kansas State Extension Master Gardener program is part of the Kansas State University College of Agriculture, within the Horticulture and Natural Resources department. Supported by K-State Extension, the program turns a love of gardening into meaningful community impact through volunteer service.
Through research-based education and hands-on community projects, Extension Master Gardener volunteers inspire others to discover the benefits of gardening. Their impact can be seen in neighborhoods, schools, senior centers, and public spaces across the state.
Becoming an Extension Master Gardener volunteer begins with 40 to 50 hours of in-depth horticultural training led by K-State specialists and local Extension professionals. Participants give back by contributing volunteer service to their communities. Many volunteers find that what begins as a season of learning becomes a dedication to enriching the communities they call home.
