The Kansas Rural Center will host an Advanced Farm Labor workshop on Saturday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, Flory Hall, 2120 Harper Street in Lawrence.

The workshop is part of a regional initiative of North Central Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (NCR-SARE). K-State Extension hosts the Kansas office of NCR-SARE through the Extension Programs office.

The workshop’s presenter is Rachel Armstrong, founder and executive director of Farm Commons, an agricultural law education and advocacy center based in Duluth, Minn.

While Farm Commons has conducted an online Advanced Farm Labor Law workshop for the past several years, the Kansas workshop will be the first time it is being offered in person.

The workshop will take a deep dive into farm labor law and should be of interest to farmers and ag service providers. This workshop will help farmers understand the nuances that are important to ensure their farms are complying with the law and will provide in-depth discussion of issues of employee classification, using the H-2A program, and more that can help farmers manage risk with their workforce.

Registration costs $5, which will be refunded at the event. Register online at https://secure.everyaction.com/Q3HdACIIYEaLS2g4cmhLuw2.
