This message is for our family of extension office professionals, and for those who truly value the contributions this group makes to Kansas State University.
May brings a full schedule and renewed energy across K-State Extension, and it is the perfect time to recognize the role you play every day. In every local office, that first connection with the public starts with you. You are the front door. You set the tone and are often the reason someone feels welcomed, heard, and confident reaching out for trusted advice.
Your work matters more than the credit you ever receive. From managing busy offices to helping communities navigate questions and challenges, you shape how people experience K-State Extension. While it is sometimes said this work goes unnoticed, that is simply not true. You are seen, you are valued, and what you do is important to the trust and reputation of every local office.
At the same time, the impact of your role depends on how you work together. The strongest offices are built on communication, respect and teamwork. When you model that every day, it shapes not only your workplace, but the experience of those you serve.
Across the state, Kansans turn to K-State Extension for answers they can trust, and you are often the first step in that connection. You help ensure people feel confident in where they came for help and in the information they receive.
This week, the regional directors will welcome many of you to Manhattan for the office professionals retreat, focused on learning, connecting with colleagues and investing in each other. We hope this time away from the office gives you a chance to recharge, learn new skills, and bring a little purple pride back home to your local unit.
