This week, the Shout Out is sent from Karen Blakeslee, Extension Associate in Grain and Food Science, and is sent for Amanda Lindahl, Chisholm Trail; Megan Dougherty, Riley County; Kaitlin Moore, River Valley District; and Afton Tso, Golden Prairie District.
Karen writes:
“I would like to give a shout out to my planning team, Amanda Lindahl, Megan Dougherty, Kaitlin Moore and Aftan Tso, for the K-State Extension Agent Food Preservation training held the last week of April in Abilene.
When I talked to the Nutrition, Food Safety and Health PFT at annual conference about doing this workshop, Amanda was the first one to say she wanted to host the training. Aftan, Megan and Kaitlin also stepped up right away. The team was set, and off we went to plan this 3-day workshop.
Meetings were held, schedules were set, products were selected to do hands-on experiences, and more. This year, we invited extension professionals from the North Central Food Safety Extension Network. We had three out-of-state extension professionals attend, including Nebraska, South Dakota, and Ohio.
The bulk of the work was the week of the workshop. This team made the workshop run smoothly, helped identify items we missed (resulting in a few trips to Dollar General!), and the attendees had a great experience. One participant gave praise to the awesome team of helpers who made it all happen!

Thank you to Amanda, Megan, Kaitlin and Aftan! I could not have done this workshop without you!”
