On June 10, the JCEP -- which is the umbrella administrative organization representing all of our extension professional associations – held its traditional summer meeting with members of the Extension Administration Team in Manhattan.

The purpose of this annual meeting is to enable JCEP and the Extension Administration Team to discuss important issues facing extension. In the past, this meeting has covered such topics as retention, career ladders, mentoring and onboarding.

The topics for this year’s meeting included the UFM partnership, Elevating Extension, Rock Springs Ranch, and the State Finance Council. Summarizing all of the topics in one article has proven difficult. As such, we will provide a summary report regarding the UFM discussion in the July 14 Tuesday Letter.

A summary report for the Elevating Extension, Rock Springs Ranch, and the State Finance Council will appear in the July 21 Tuesday Letter.

Only meeting once annually in our rapidly changing society and system is problematic. Accordingly, we discussed the possibility of adding two additional JCEP – Extension Administration Team Zoom meetings. These meetings combined with the traditional summer meeting and the JCEP business meeting during our annual conference will enable JCEP and the Extension Administration Team to have more timely discussions, input, and feedback about the issues facing extension.

JCEP will be taking up the matter of these two additional meetings in the near future.
