Kansas State University continues its commitment to strengthening relationships with communities across the state through K-State Takeover, a collaborative initiative involving the K-State Alumni Association, K-State Athletics and university partners that brings faculty, staff and community partners together around shared priorities, opportunities and regional challenges.
As part of the southeast Kansas visit, K-State will host two community presentations on Tuesday, June 9, at Hereford Coworking in Emporia focused on emerging topics impacting organizations, workplaces and everyday life. Community members, business leaders, educators, students and industry partners are all welcome to attend.
Johnna Cortopassi, doctoral student in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work, will present “Building a Cyber-Aware Work Culture: Why Organizations Fail — and How to Fix It” from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m.
The session will examine how workplace culture, communication gaps and competing priorities contribute to cybersecurity vulnerabilities while offering practical strategies organizations can use to strengthen awareness and resilience.
Brandon Savage, Department of Management instructor in the College of Business Administration and Presidential Engagement Fellow, will present “Navigating the AI Frontier: What It Can Do (and How to Use It Well)” from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.
The interactive session will feature live demonstrations using tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini while exploring how generative AI can support productivity, communication, creativity and everyday work tasks.
Extension professionals are encouraged to share these opportunities broadly with local business leaders, community partners, educators and others interested in learning more about cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
