Beginning July 6, a new chapter began for K-State Extension as human resources services officially transitions from Extension Operations to the Administrative Services Center (ASC).

While you've heard about this change over the past several months, we're excited to share that the transition is now complete and the ASC human resources team is ready to support extension employees and local unit leaders.

Portrait of woman with shoulder length brown hair wearing a blue shirtThe ASC HR team includes Jennifer Barajas, HR Director; Leeanna Oxios, HR Analyst (pictured at right); and Diana Rose, HR Representative.

In addition, a search is currently underway to add another HR representative to the team, further expanding the level of support available to extension employees.

Leeanna will serve as the primary point of contact for K-State Extension. She works closely with extension employees and local unit leaders on day-to-day HR needs, including recruitment, personnel transactions, position management, HR reporting, and other operational HR functions.

Jennifer provides strategic leadership for the ASC HR team, while Diana assists employees with hiring processes, leave guidance and general HR support.

The ASC HR team provides assistance throughout the entire employee lifecycle, including:

  • Position management.
  • Recruitment and hiring.
  • New employee onboarding (not training).
  • Performance management and employee relations.
  • HR policy guidance.
  • Time and leave assistance.
  • Employee separations and retirements.

To ensure you receive the fastest response, the best ways to connect with the ASC HR team are:

  • ASC HR Live Chat – The quickest way to reach an HR team member for questions and assistance.
  • ASCHR@ksu.edu – A shared inbox monitored by the ASC HR team so questions are routed quickly and answered by the first available team member.

Using the shared email or Live Chat helps ensure your request is addressed promptly, even when individual team members are away from the office.

As this transition takes place, Extension Operations will conclude its HR responsibilities, allowing the ASC to provide a consistent, centralized approach to HR services across the university. This change is another step in strengthening the support available to extension employees while creating more efficient and streamlined HR services.

We're excited about this next chapter and the opportunities it creates to better serve K-State Extension. Thank you for your patience throughout the transition and for everything you do to make a difference in Kansas communities. We look forward to supporting you in the months and years ahead.
