Updated Risk Management Resources and Incident Reporting Protocols
Sept. 1, 2026
Submitted by Jennifer Wilson
K-State Extension has updated its Risk Management Planning Guide and Incident Management Planning Form and has implemented new incident reporting protocols for local units.
What you need to know:
- Review the updated Risk Management Planning Guide before planning programs and events.
- Download the Incident Management Planning Form to use when planning programs and events.
- Become familiar with the new incident reporting protocols and the four risk levels: low/routine, moderate, high, and emergency.
- Incidents classified as levels 2–4 must be reported through the Report It portal. The local unit director and regional director should also be notified. The detailed risk-level rubric and reporting guidance are included in the planning guide.
These protocols are designed to help K-State Extension respond appropriately to incidents, collect and maintain documentation, and support the safety of program participants, employees, and the organization.
The Risk Management Board Leadership Module has also been updated. Local units should share the updated module with their board members.
