Natural Disaster Response, Relief, and Preparedness

In Kansas, natural disasters can strike at any time. From tornadoes and severe storms to wildfires, drought and flooding, it’s important to be prepared. Being well equipped for hazards and threats can help reduce the severity and keep people safe.
K-State Research and Extension provides programming and resources that assist with preparation, recovery and relief efforts before and after natural disasters strike. Through our partnership with the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN), we work with universities across the nation to give Kansans access to resources that help mitigate affects felt by a disaster.
Our team of extension experts cover a range of topics from animal health and welfare and rangeland management to financial wellness and mental health. Many of our local extension agents are also trained on what to do in natural disaster events.
